Zhang Junguo completed a doctorate in engineering before joining ICBC in 1999. Under his leadership, ICBC’s Middle East operations focus on financing sectors of national or strategic importance in the region, including infrastructure investment, economic diversification, and green development. His team arranged the financing for the world’s largest solar power plant project in Mohamed bin Rashid Solar Park. In 2019, ICBC Middle East grew its total assets by 5% to over $30 billion.
