The Tata Group is, arguably, the most influential conglomerate in India, of which Mr Ratan Tata was the Chairman for 21 years. He was also at the helm of many of its key companies, such as Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Chemicals, Indian Hotels Company Limited and Tata Teleservices. During his tenure, the Tata Group's revenues grew manifold, establishing itself in the highest echelons of India's key business sectors. Mr Tata, who is an institution in hiMself, is also credited with introducing the concept of community philanthropy into his companies' business models.
