Ms Shobhana Bhartia is a prominent business leader and statesperson in India who was the first and the youngest woman to become the Chief Executive of a national newspaper. She carries rich experience and expertise over her three decades in print media. She also serves as the Pro-Chancellor of Birla Institute of Technology & Science. In 2005, Ms Bhartia received the prestigious Padma Shri for Excellence in Journalism, a National Award given by the Government of India for significant contributions to a specific subject. She was a presidential nominee of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of the Parliament in India from 2006 to 2012. She was also a member of the Standing Committees in the Parliament on Energy, Women Empowerment, and Human Resource Development.
